ACB file chargesheet against SAMAGRA officials in trap case

Srinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday produced a chargesheet against Executive Engineer and Assistant Accounts Officer, SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV) in a trap case.

ACB, as per a statement produced a chargesheet against Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer and Muhammad Farooq, Assistant Accounts Officer, SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV) in a trap case in the Court of Anti Corruption Jammu.

“The instant case was registered on the basis of a complaint regarding alleged demand of bribe by Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer and Mohd Farooq Ahmad, Asstt. Accounts Officer of SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV) Jammu for release of long pending bills,” the statement said.

“The complainant in his complaint alleged that the company of the complainant had carried out partial construction work. He had received payment of Rs 29.97 lakh in February, 2020. After completion of some more work, bills worth Rs 15 lakhs were raised by the complainant. The accused officials withheld payment on the ground that their share in respect of the earlier payment has not been paid in terms of 2% and 1.5% respectively as such Rs 45000 was demanded for the release of the new bill.”

“On receipt of complaint at Anti Corruption Bureau, Case FIR No. 05/20 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act r/w 120B IPC at PS ACB Jammu was registered against the accused public servants namely Rajinder Kumar, Executive Engineer and Mohd Farooq Ahmad, Asstt. Accounts officer of SAMAGRA (Education Division, SSA/RMSA, Div III-IV), Jammu. The officials were subsequently caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe.”

“After receiving sanction from Government in respect of in-service accused persons, a charge sheet of the instant case FIR was produced against the above mentioned persons in the Anti-Corruption Court, Jammu for judicial determination. The next date of hearing has been fixed on 03-01-2022.”
