Kupwara: In view of recent civilian target killings in the Valley, security forces in Kupwara on Monday re-assured migrant workers of their safety and security in Kupwara.
Jammu and Kashmir police led the humanitarian initiative in coordination with Army, CRPF and intelligence agencies and took all necessary measures to handle the emerging situation, according to a press release issued by army.
Migrant labourers were called in at nearest police stations in various parts of the district.
Also, Indian Army took a step forward to provide humanitarian assistance in coordination with police to these families to mitigate their hardship in such a distressing situation.
“A labourer at Kalaroose police station requested for an ambulance to shift his sick wife to Kupwara and he didn’t want to travel in any taxi. Kalaroose Company stepped in to assist them and shifted the family along with two children,” reads the press release.
Similarly breakfast, lunch and other humanitarian assistance was provided to migrant labourers at Trehgam police station by Trehgam Company.
The army officers spoke with the distressed workers and assured them of of their safety and all possible assistance.
