Srinagar: Sample of a 75-year-old man, who died on Tuesday evening at his home in Preet Nagar Digiana in Jammu came positive a day later, health officials said.
His death due to COVID-19 has taken the toll to 11, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The family had shifted the deceased to GMC Jammu for COVID-19 test after his death last evening.
Medical Superintendent GMC Jammu Dr. Dara Singh said that the man was brought dead to the facility at around 7:30 PM on Tuesday.
“His sample was taken yesterday evening and body shifted to mortuary,” he said, adding, “The sample came positive for Covid-19 today.” Singh told GNS.
The body would now be handed over to the family after following Covid-19 protocol.
Tuesday’s death due to COVID-19 was second in Jammu so far. Kashmir has reported nine deaths.
