Srinagar: To check the progress of Covid-19 Vaccination, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Tuesday chaired a meeting of Principals of City Colleges, Officers of Health Department and senior Officers of district Administration in the meeting hall of DC Office Complex, in Srinagar.
While taking a detailed assessment of the College-wise Covid Vaccination process, he was informed that almost 100 percent of College Staff has been vaccinated as well as 50% of students enrolled in different colleges in the district are also vaccinated and to cover the remaining students the process is going on.
The DC directed all the Principals to ensure all students in their respective colleges are vaccinated he said “To prevent covid from spreading and to resume the offline classes it is necessary to get vaccinated.”
He further called for holding seminars and counseling sessions regarding the importance of Covid-19 Vaccination for mass awareness of students so that all students are inoculated with anti-Covid Vaccine shots at the earliest. He said that the students are being vaccinated as a priority group to facilitate the opening of higher education classes physically.
To review the pace of Covid-19 vaccination under 18-44 age group DC held a separate meeting with senior officers of district administration
DC asked all the ZMOs to focus on covering as much of the targeted group as possible for maximum protection from viruses. He asked them to hold special vaccination drives during wee hours for the convenience of people who are not available during office hours.
The ZMOs were further directed to increase the average rate of per-day vaccination in order to achieve the set targets.
To tackle the possible third wave the DC asked the officers to learn from the past mistakes and be ready to tackle any possible situation. As such, he directed the fully utilizing the Vaccination capacity, raising IEC and Enforcement level, making sure Covid appropriate behavior is adhered to, increasing Surveillance activities, and scaling up Testing & Contact Tracing.
He also directed the health authorities to ensure timely uploading of the data related to Covid testing and Vaccination.
With regard to compliance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour/ SoPs, the DC directed all the Tehsildars and other concerned to ensure on-ground implementation of Covid control measures and adherence to the Covid protocols.
Meanwhile, the DC directed the concerned officers to keep a close check on social gatherings including marriage functions and take strict action against the violators holding marriage parties without prior permission from the administration.
