Kupwara: Family members of a 23-year-old woman, who died soon after surgery at a nursing home at Handwara triggered protest against doctors.
The protestors mostly her family members alleged negligence by doctors and the management of the health facility.
The newly-wed woman, Shameema Begum wife of Nazir Ahmad Mir of Sopernaghama Qaziabad, was admitted in “North Kashmir Nursing Home” on Sunday afternoon and according to the family, her gallbladder was to be removed.
On Monday, as soon as the surgery was conducted, the condition of the woman deteriorated and in the meanwhile she was referred to District Hospital Handwara, where doctors declared her brought dead, said family members of slain woman.
The family members of the woman blamed nursing home doctors for her death.
They demanded a probe into the incident and urged police authorities to bring to book the doctors and administrators involved in the death.
Medical superintendent District Hospital Handwara Dr. Nissar Ahmad said that facts of the incident are being ascertained.
