Kupwara: Deputy Inspector-General of Police NKR Sujit Kumar Saturday appreciated role of police in effectively dealing with drug menace in Kupwara and maintaining peace and public order in the frontier district.
Kumar exhorted upon the officers to remain cautious and alert to maintain peace in the district as anti-national elements were making efforts to disturb it.
The DIG NKR visited Kupwara to review the security scenario in the frontier district.
He was recieved by SSP Kupwara Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy and presented ceremonial guard of honour on his arrival at DPO Kupwara.
The DIG NKR chaired security review meeting with police officers to assess the law & order situation in the district.
Kumar appreciated the role of Kupwara police for their professionalism in maintaining peace and public order in the district and keeping the criminal activities under check.
DIG NKR said that the synergy among the forces was the key to thwart any nefarious designs of the enemies of the nation.
The DIG NKR directed officers to strengthen the security grid and plug the gaps with tight security measures to neutralise those involved in terrorist and criminal activities.
He said that stringent action has to be taken against the elements found involved in unlawful activities to ensure peaceful environment for the people. DIG NKR directed the officers to maintain close liaison with the public for maintenance of peace and order.
The meeting was attended by SSP Kupwara Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, ASP Kupwara Raja Zohaib, DySP Hqrs Kupwara, DySP PC Lolab and DySP DAR DPL Kupwara.
The DIG NKR presented medals to awardees, who have shown their excellence in different fields and appreciated their role in police department, reads the statement.
