Driver, PDD casual worker electrocuted to death in Bandipora

Bandipora: A truck driver and a casual labourer from Power Development Department (PDD) department were on Saturday electrocuted to death in two separate incidents in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The deceased identified as Assadullah Parray, son of Abul Jabar Parray 35, of Markundal, received an electric shock while repairing a transformer in Markundal area of Sumbal in Bandipora.

Parray, who was working as a casual labourer in the PDD department, succumbed to his injuries soon after he was taken to the nearby health facility for treatment, he said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a tipper driver was electrocuted to death in Shadipora area of Sumbal this evening.

The deceased identified as Sheer Ahmad, son of Abdul Waheed of Ramban, was electrocuted to death, after his vehicle came in contact with High Tension (HT) live transmission wire.

Investigations are underway to ascertain, if there was any negligence on part of the department, an official said.

Meanwhile, Sumbal police has registered a case and taken up further investigations.
