Srinagar: In an endeavour to provide help to the families of the police personnel who have passed away while in service, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh on Saturday sanctioned Rs 2.40 Crore as Special Welfare Relief for Next of Kin (NoKs)of deceased and slain cops who died while in service.
According to a statement, the special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents, legal heirs of deceased, slain police personnel SI Jameel Ahmad Lone,ASIs Gh. Rasool, Mohd Shafi, HC Aijaz Ahmad, Sgcts. Inderjeet Singh, Davinder Kumar, Mohd Yousf Bajad CTs. Suhail Mushtaq Lohar, Ramiz Raja, Amjad Hussain , CT (P) Sudershan Dev and Follower Ashok Kumar.
Rupees one lakh each has been already paid to the families/ NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
From January 2020 to May 2021 Police headquarter has sanctioned rupees 56.30 Crore as Special Welfare Relief in favour of NOKs of 283 deceased/martyred police personnel
Besides the existing welfare schemes, Police headquarters has taken many initiatives to ensure increased help and assistance for the welfare of its personnel and their families.
