Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday released salary of a teacher, whose son committed suicide May 28, citing non-payment of salary for over past two years as the reason behind taking the extreme step.
He was one among 630 teachers whose salaries were released.
“The salary of these teachers was pending due to deficiency of documents and verification,” an official said.
Director School Education Kashmir Tassaduq Hussain Mir released Rs 33 crores to chief education officers of Kashmir for payment of withheld salaries of 630 teachers, including the father of a boy from Kulgam who committed suicide days before.
In a video, son of teacher (now deceased) had said that he was forced to take the extreme step due to non-payment of his father’s salary for past over years.
