Handwara: Police arrested three Lashkar-e-Toiba associates from Handwara on Thursday and recovered Rs 1.34 crore Indian currency from them.
Contraband substance worth millions of rupees was also recovered from the accused who would use drug money for terror activitie across Jammu and Kashmir, police said
“They trio working for LeT traded drugs from Pakistan and used drug money to fund terror activities across Jammu and Kashmir,” said SP Handwara, Dr. GV Sundeep Chakravarthy
“Their arrest has exposed the nexus between drug dealers and terror groups.
We had intelligence inputs regarding their movement for past two weeks and we nabbed them finally,” he added.
This is the huge consignment of drugs and cash recovered by police in recent years.
The accused were in touch with their handlers in Pakistan, Sundeep Chakravarthy told reporters.
Police has launched a manhunt to arrest a few more members of the module, who are at large.
