Jammu: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man for his role in carrying out an explosion in Maira Chowkian village of Rajouri district.
Few vehicles parked in the compound of a house had suffered damage in that explosion, last week.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Chandan Kohli said that on the intervening night of September 5 and 6, an explosion took place in front of the house of Susheel Kumar son of Som Raj and three cars (JK11B-6332, JK11D-1053, JKO2A-1551) and a Scooty (JK11D-2978) suffered damage.
“Soon after the explosion, the forensic team of police visited the spot and all the required samples were collected,” said, SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli.
“The explosion site was closely examined and a team of police headed by Deputy SP headquarter Surinder Khadyar and SHO Rajouri Sameer Jillani under the supervision of Liaqat Ali Additional SP Rajouri started investigation and examination of all the evidences were collected,” he added.
A case FIR No 460/20 U/Ss 7/27 IPC, 4/5 Explosove Substance Act was registered at police station Rajouri.
During the course of investigation, a few suspects from the area were detained for questioning during which police investigation team zeroed in on Abdul Khaliq son of Ahmed Din resident of Maira Nagrota, a plumber by profession and lives in the same locality, where explosion took place.
“Durign searches of his house, police recovered explosive material, detonator, ball bearings etc- the same materail used in the explosion,” SSP said.
“The accused broke down during interrogation and disclosed that he prepared the explosive material and later planted it in the parking area of the house to cause an explosion.” he added.
The accused caused the explosion due to some monetary issues and pending payments.
“In a fit of anger over this issues, he planned to carry out the explosion.
We are further investigating the case but there is no militancy related involvement in it,” the SSP added.
