Srinagar: In its’ crackdown against the drug dealings, Police in southern Kulgam district on Monday said that they arrested a married couple alongwith contraband substance during a raid at their house.
“A police party headed by SHO, Police station Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Headquarters raided a residential house belonging to Ghulam Mohammad Laway at Chawalgam Kulgam,” said police spokesman.
“During searches, officials recovered 2.5 Kgs of Charas from the possession of two persons including a woman. identified the accused as Ghulam Mohammad Laway and his wife Shameema, both residents of Chawalgam Kulgam,” he added.
They have been arrested and lodged to police station Kulgam where they remain in custody, according to spokesman.
Accordingly, case FIR number 280/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigations initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt sternly under the law, said spokesman.
Police’s consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are sparing no efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace, he added.
