Kupwara: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that it busted a major Pakistan sponsored narco-terror module by nabbing a militant associate in Kupwara district and seized around 8 Kilograms of Heroine valued at Rs 50 Crores in the international market.
Police identified the arrested drug peddler as Mudasir Ahmad Lone, Son of Muzaffar Ahmad Lone, of border town Karen bala.
In the recent past, police seized contraband worth millions of rupees near LoC in Kupwara district.
A few other accused involved in Sunday’s drug deal have been identified and efforts are on to arrest them, reads a hand-out issued by police.
“The module was in close connection with Pakistan based terror handlers and involved in drug trade and financial assistance to active militants in the Valley. The recoveries also expose the inter connection between drug dealers and militants,” it reads further.
The module was working for militants to strengthen their activities in the valley and misguiding and motivating the local youth of the Valley to join militant ranks, according to police.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigations taken up.
Jammu and Kashmir police once again appeals the people of the Kupwara district to come forward with the information regarding drug peddlers or smugglers so that the curative steps can be taken against them, it said.
