Srinagar: Suspected militants hurled a grenade at the residence of a police officer adjacent to police station Shopian in south Kashmir on Monday evening but it failed to explode and was later defused.
A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of Jammu and Kashmir Police soon reached the spot and destroyed it, GNS, a local news agency quoted official sources as having said.
Earlier, suspected militants made an abortive bid to target a police post in southern Kulgam district.
The militants hurled a grenade at a police post in Frisal area of the southern district.
However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded outside the boundary wall. No damage to life or property was reported in the incident.
Meanwhile the area has been cordoned to nab the attackers, the official added.
