Shopian: Police on Monday claimed that they nabbed two men working for Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM), from south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The arrested men were planning to carry out attack on security forces deployment in the district, a police official said.
Army’s 55 RR and CRPF’s 178 assisted police in apprehending the duo. “The arrested men were planning to attack forces deployment near Wachi Shopian,” he added.
“Following a specific input about movement of two JeM associates planning to attack security force deployment, a naka was immediately laid near Wachi petrol pump,” he said.
“The suspects tried to flee from the spot but policemen, CRPF and army men overpowered both suspects,” he added.
A pistol and two grenades were recovered from their possession. “During preliminary investigation, both accused confessed that they were working for JeM outfit and were provided arms and ammunition recently,” official said.
A case under FIR never 27/2020 under section 18,20,23,38,39 ULAP ACT, 7/25 IAA has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigations taken up.
