Two suspected Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants were gunned down in an encounter with government forces in Bijbehara town of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday, police said.
Bodies of slain militants were recovered and a search operation was still underway, said a police official.
“The firing has stopped and bodies of militants along with weapons have been recovered. A search operation is still underway near the shooting site,” he added.
He said the identification of slain militants who belong to Pakistan Backed JeM was being ascertained. Earlier the gunfight broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation the area following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants
