In a sweeping crackdown on subversive networks operating within the Kashmir Valley, Srinagar Police have booked five terrorist associates under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), underscoring an unrelenting drive to neutralize threats against national security.
According to an official statement, the detained individuals were linked to banned terror outfits and had a documented history of involvement in anti-national and criminal activities.
Identified as Nayeem Ahmad Khan of Panthachowk, Faizan Akhter Bhat of Khanyar, Mehraj Ud Din Bhat of Pandach, Umar Hamid Sheikh of Hazratbal, and Suhaib Shafi Baba alias Chamna of Rainawari, the accused were taken into custody following the issuance of formal detention orders based on detailed police dossiers.
The detainees have since been lodged in high-security jails located in Kathua, Udhampur, and Kot Bhalwal in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities confirmed that despite facing multiple criminal cases and prior arrests, the individuals persistently returned to unlawful activities upon securing bail.
Their continued involvement in subversive operations was deemed a serious threat to public order and national security.“This operation is part of a systematic effort by the J&K Police to dismantle the terror support infrastructure in Srinagar,” the police stated, emphasizing that such actions reflect a policy of zero tolerance against elements working against the sovereignty and peace of the country.
In a strong message to others involved in similar activities, the police added: “We caution all those who think they can evade justice—law will catch up with every offender. No one involved in acts against the nation will be spared.”This move is the latest in a series of intensified actions aimed at restoring long-term peace and disrupting the terror ecosystem in the region.
