Srinagar: General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Srinagar based Army’s 15 Corps Lieutenant General D P Pandey Tuesday said that militants were luring young boys to carry out grenade attacks at the busy places in Kashmir as former have failed to execute big strikes on security forces.

Pandey observed that Kashmiri women have started come on the forefront, who otherwise were pushed to wall in the past and this development will prevent boys from treading wrong path.

GoC was talking to reporters on the side-lines of a function organised on the eve of World Women’s Day here.

The senior army officer regretted killing of young girl and an elderly civilian in Amira Kadal grenade blast the weekend.

“We believe society has a great role to play here to prevent such incidents,” said GoC Pandey.

The senior officer said that women of all ages and different backgrounds were brought to the stage today to boost their morale.

“They were confined to four walls of house earlier and kept mum. But now they have their say and we are sure they will help prevent young boys from treading wrong path,” he said.

There is peace along the LoC as kids are going to schools and people carrying out farming activities without fear, said GoC Pandey.
