Pulwama: Inhabitants from Reshipora Awantipora Tuesday lodged a protest and blocked Naina-Padgampora road over persistent water shortage in the area.
The protesters staged a sit-in in the middle of the road bringing the vehicular traffic to a complete halt. Raising slogans against Jal Shakti department, the protestors alleged that despite repeated pleas the department continues to ignore them.
“We have been facing acute shortage of water supply for past several months now. The department is doing nothing to address our problem”, a protestor said.
“We make a fervent appeal to the department higher-ups to restore the water supply”, he added.
The protestors dispersed peacefully after a police team reached the spot.
