Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha October 15 declared that Jammu and Kashmir has entered a new phase where “terror sympathizers” and those who once benefited from violence will no longer find refuge under the system.
He vowed that anyone abetting or supporting terrorism will face the full force of the law.
“The era when certain people profited from terror acts is over. Those who sympathize with terrorists will not be spared,” Sinha asserted while addressing families of terror victims in Kupwara.
Sinha said the administration is determined to deliver justice to victims and dismantle the networks that exploited decades of conflict for personal or political gain.
“The administration will ensure that those who abet or support terror are brought to justice,” he said.
Highlighting the government’s ongoing outreach programme, the Lieutenant Governor said more than 250 families affected by terrorism have already been provided employment opportunities.
He described the initiative as part of a broader effort to restore livelihoods, rebuild trust, and rehabilitate communities that bore the brunt of violence.
He also directed officials to ensure accountability in pending cases. “If FIRs have not been registered under any circumstances, they will be registered,” Sinha affirmed.
The Lt Governor announced that the government will extend financial assistance to families who lost their breadwinners, particularly those willing to rebuild on their own land.
He said the administration would work closely with voluntary organizations to reconstruct homes damaged in cross-border shelling, acknowledging a Kerala-based group for its active support.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to justice and dignity, Sinha said, “The government stands with every innocent victim of terrorism. Together, we will build a peaceful, prosperous, and self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir.”
Earlier in the day, the Lieutenant Governor met with terror victim families at Dardpora and later addressed the next of kin of victims at the Government Degree College, Kupwara.
In a post on X, the Office of the J&K LG wrote: “I have assured family members that their decades-long trauma, torment, and suffering are over. We’ll ensure every support to help them reclaim their lives.
Families of civilians killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists also suffered systemic barriers that denied them their rights and access to resources.
All obstacles are now removed, and we are ensuring justice and dignity for terror victim families.”
