In a significant blow to terrorist networks in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces August 30 eliminated Bagu Khan, alias Samandar Chacha—dubbed the ‘Human GPS’ for his unparalleled knowledge of secret infiltration routes.
Khan, a veteran facilitator active since 1995 from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), is believed to have orchestrated over 100 infiltration attempts into the valley, most of them successful.
The operation took place in the challenging terrain of the Nowshera Naar area in the Gurez sector of Bandipora district. Khan was killed along with another terrorist during an infiltration attempt.
Officials described his death as a major setback to the logistical and operational capabilities of terrorist organizations in the region.
“Khan had been a key figure for multiple terror outfits, including Hizbul Mujahideen, leveraging his intimate knowledge of the valley’s terrain to facilitate infiltration,” said a senior security official.
“Despite his association with one group, he aided almost every terrorist organization attempting to enter Kashmir through Gurez.”
The elimination follows the neutralization of two terrorists earlier this week during a foiled infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to the Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, intelligence from the Jammu and Kashmir Police led to a joint operation.
Troops on high alert detected suspicious movement, challenged the intruders, and were met with indiscriminate fire before the encounter ended.
In a related development, Bihar Police issued a high-security alert after receiving intelligence that three terrorists from Pakistan may have entered the state via Nepal.
The police released photographs and names of the suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives, believed to have crossed into Bihar through Araria district.
The coordinated operations underscore ongoing vigilance by Indian security forces along multiple fronts to thwart infiltration and disrupt terror networks operating across the India-Pakistan border.
