Kupwara: Residents of remote Budnamal village in Kupwara district availed free medical care and medicine during a two day medical camp organized by army from Thursday through Friday.
Doctors including specialists like Gynaecologist, ophthalmologist and general physicians provided healthcare services to the villagers.
Having a population of around 5,000 souls, Budnambal is around 35 Kms from Kupwara headquarters with limited road connectivity and no mobile facility.
Residents of this remote village have no medical facility and the nearest health center is at Kralpora, which is around 15 Kms from the village.
In absence of proper health care, residents of ignored Budnamal hamlet have to travel all the way to Kralpora even for first aid.
Under such circumstances, medical camp organized under aegis of 68 Mountain Brigade benefitted the local residents, they told Curtain Raiser.
The camp was conducted at Primary School Budnambal with the help of Block Medical Officer, Kralpora .
An Army doctor and nursing assistants along with six paramedics staffers from CHC Kralpora rendered their services.
At least 276 including 109 male patients, 87 female patients and 80 children were examined and treated at the camp.
They were also provided free medicines.
Also, to strengthen the mass vaccination drive against COVID-19, at least 104 individuals were vaccinated during the camp, army said.
The individuals suffering from chronic illness were provided proper treatment, counselled and advised to visit the CHC and district hospital for further treatment.
The local residents, Sarpanches and ward members of village expressed their gratitude to army for organzing much needed camp in the village.
The doctors and paramedical staff were felicitated by the Indian Army as a token of appreciation.
