Kulgam: Jammu and Kashmir Police Tuesday said that it arrested a notorious drug peddler in Qazigund town of Kulgam district. The accused was evading arrest for past years, according to police.
Acting on specific input,
Reyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar a resident of Churat Qazigund was nabbed in a swift action, spokesman said in a press release.
The accused was the major drug dealer on national highway (NHW) and was involved in illegal trade of many narcotic cases in Qazigund, the statement reads.
“Police had been searching him for a very long time and today after getting inputs of his location police acted swiftly and nabbed him,” it added.
As per the statement, Reyaz was involved in cases with FIR No. 171/2008 U/S 15-18 NDPS Act, FIR No. 227/2014 U/S 50 Excise Act (challaned on 03.01.2015), FIR No. 208/2021 U/S 148, 149, 336, 427, 332, 307, 188 RPC, FIR No. 209/2021 U/S 188, 148, 149, 341, 332, 336, 427, 307 RPC, FIR No. 161/2021 U/S 8-20 NDPS Act and FIR No.172/2021 U/S 48 Excise Act of Police Station Qazigund.
To curb the drug menace from Kashmir J&K police have taken strict action against those involved in abuse. Police appeals people to come forward with any information regarding drug trafficking in their areas, spokesman said.
