Kupwara: In a joint operation, Jammu and Kashmir police and army recovered on Monday evening at least fifteen sticks of ‘plastic explosive’ in border town Karnah of Kupwara district, officials said.
“On Sunday night, specific intelligence was received on likely explosives being exchanged near Jama Masjid of Tangdhar. Security forces increased alertness level and monitored the area through a comprehensive surveillance grid,” a hand out reads.
“At 4:50 PM on Monday, a detailed search by the army bomb disposal team led to recovery of explosives which was supposedly being transhipped to hinterland,” it adds.
The operation was conducted in the heart of Tangdhar market without causing any inconvenience to locals, according to the hand-out.
