Srinagar: A 14-year-old girl drowned in Vishu Nallah in Reshnagri area in southern Shopian district on Friday morning.
The slipped into the water body, following which efforts were made to rescue her.
Following retrieval, the girl was removed to a nearby health facility in unconscious condition, however she was declared as brought dead on arrival by the doctors there.
The deceased girl has been identified as Mafrosha Mushtaq daughter of Mushtaq Ahmad.
A police official concerned confirmed the incident and said that the body of the victim has been handed over to her family after conduct of necessary medico-legal formalities.
