J&K State Commission for Protection of Women & Child Rights (J&KSCPWCR), based on some media reports, on Tuesday took suo-motto cognizance of two different incidents in Ramban and Budgam districts.
In Ramban district, a teenage girl idenified as Failti Maitra, set herself ablaze at her home under mysterious circumstances last Thursday in which she got 90 per cent burn injuries. She was admitted in the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
In Budgam district, a case of clash between the two groups and some unidentified youth came to the knowledge of Commission wherein the unknown youth were reported to have clicked unsolicited photographs and videos of the girl students.
Considering the gravity and seriousness involved in both the cases, the Commission has sought Action Taken Teport (ATR) from the concerned police authorities within five days.
